Kenneth G. Edberg, 82, of Belle Plaine passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Kolden Funeral Home and Chapel will host a Celebration of Life on June 1 from 9-11 a.m. The Reverend Diane Goulson will preside over a brief service at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at a later date at Oakwood Cemetery in Belle Plaine.
Kenneth George Edberg was born December 15, 1934 in Jordan to George William and Della Ann (Payne) Edberg. He attended Belle Plaine High School. He went on to travel and work with the Albrecht Family Circus and served during the Korean Era in the U.S. Navy. He also spent time working for Harold Edberg Construction, Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, and Oak Grove Dairy where he delivered milk to homes as well as local stores and restaurants. His final employment was at Rosemount Engineering until his retirement.
Kenneth married Vernie Leonhardt on September 18, 1953 at Bainbridge Naval Hospital in Bainbridge, Maryland.
He was a member of both the VFW and American Legion Posts in Belle Plaine and a member of the Railroad Union.
Ken really enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife, Vernie Edberg of Belle Plaine; children, “Big Don” Edberg of Belle Plaine, Bill Edberg of Lakeville, Deb (Jon) Malin of Lakeville and Joe (Valerie) Edberg of Shakopee; nine grandchildren, Shelly, Jessica, Philip, Alice, Maverick, Kyle, Devyn, Jack and Hannah; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Viona “Bunny” Hessian of Lakeville; sister-in-law, Sally Nelson of Fort Myers, FL; and brother-in-law, Luther Lageson of Biwabik.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Della Edberg; his parents-in-law, Oscar and Melitta Leonhardt; daughter-in-law, Bernice Edberg; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Tom Hessian, Audrey and R.F. Dellwo, Richard A. Nelson, Veronica “Booty” Lageson and Reginald Leonhardt.
