Scott County Fair

The Scott County Fair begins today, promising a memorable array of activities, food and entertainment during the fair’s five-day run. Everyday highlights include the Miracle of Birth Center, Robotics Demonstrations, All American Lumberjack Show, many food vendors, and music. Today’s Grandstand events include a NTPA truck and tractor pull at 7 p.m. and music by the Dirt Road Dixie Band on the main stage from 7 – 11 p.m.

Rhythm on the Rails

Shakopee’s free outdoor summer concert series presents the Gear Daddies, one of the Midwest’s most influential Americana/rock bands in the late 80s and early 90s. Originally from Austin, MN, the Gear Daddies has a very devoted fan base throughout the U.S., headlining at events from The David Letterman Show to SXSW Music Festival.

When: July 25, 6 – 9 p.m.

Glad Days

Cologne’s 17th Annual Glad Days festival begins with a garden party serving craft beer and wine tasting in the evening. “Glad Days” refers to the Gladiolus flower that Cologne is famous for.  Events throughout the three-day celebration include softball and kickball tournaments, BBQ contest, Kid Fest, fire truck rides, tractor cruise and show, bounce houses, food vendors, and music.

Music on the Lawn

Briz & Lady will be performing at this Thursday’s free “Music on the Lawn 2018” music series, hosted by The Lutheran Home Association. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and get something to eat from the food trucks that will vary each week. The event is weather permitting.

When: July 26 from 6- 7 p.m.

Kolacky Days

Treat yourself to Montgomery’s 84th Annual Kolacky festival with three days of fun celebrating Czechoslovakian heritage, culture and food, including Kroj costumes, Czech dancing, Bohemian tractor pull, baking contests, crafts, softball tournament, classic car show, bun run, parade, the U.S. National Prune Spitting Championship, and more.

When: July 27 – 29

Monster Truck and Thrill  Show at the Scott County Fair Check out the excitement of the Monster Truck Summer Nationals and Thrill Show with high-flying monster trucks and thrill acts. Monster truck action includes mini rod pulling tractors, local tough truck racing and monster truck rides.  

When: Friday, July 27, 7 p.m.

Glad Days Amazing Race

New this year at Gad Days is the Amazing Race competition where teammates work together to follow clues and complete challenges throughout the town of Cologne. Teams consist of four or more racers.

When: July 28 at 11 am.

Last Day of Kolacky Days

Kolacky Days concludes with a variety of events and activities including the Bun Run, parade, Czech dancers, a truck & tractor pull, and the Kolacky eating contest and raffle.

July 30

Solid Grounds Grand Opening

The grand opening and dedication of Belle Plaine’s new coffee house is Monday at 4 and 5 p.m.

At 4 p.m., a dedication service will be held for Solid Grounds. It will include a welcome, dedication & prayer, and ribbon cutting. Live music and free samples will follow from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  Solid Grounds is located in KingsPath at 145 Commerce Drive W.
