Bar-B-Q Days Committee Preparing Sandwiches in 1959

In this photo, the Bar-B-Days Committee helped baker Pete Mahoney with the first batch of 3,000 buns being baked for the Bar-B-Q Days celebration when 800 pounds of beef would be placed inside the buns and given away for free on Sunday. The early batches made were frozen until Sunday.  The following year, 1960, tickets which were attached to each button were required to receive Bar-B-Q sandwiches. All events, except the carnival rides, were also free to button wearers. Pictured from left to right were Paul Keup, Ed Moody, Pete Mahoney, Mark Huber, Lee Mueller, Walter Witt, and Bill Steffen. Sitting in the foreground sampling the buns is Maynard Harms.
