Belle Plaine will be celebrating a bit of its German heritage in downtown Belle Plaine on Friday, June 14 as the community holds its 38th annual German Day festival and cookout.

The cookout will begin at 5 p.m. with free food samples provided by a number of merchants along the sidewalks of downtown Belle Plaine. There will be pony rides, caricature drawings and other activities for the kids. A Kids’ Pedal Pull will start at 5 p.m. with registration beginning at 4:30 p.m. in front of Sparetime.

The BBQ Days Queen Candidates and Royalty will be introduced during the festival and

the German Days Queen Coronation will take place at 6 p.m. The evening's musical entertainment will be the Johnny Holm Band, taking the stage at 8 p.m.
