During the week of August 12-18, the Belle Plaine Police Department responded to the following selected calls:

Monday, August 12

At 1:27 p.m., police performed a welfare check on a subject who was supposedly hanging out with a male who had a warrant on the 700 block of Butler Drive. Neither party was located by the information given.

At 1:56 p.m., an officer took a  gas drive-off theft report of $73  on the 1000 block of Enterprise Drive East. The incident is under investigation.

At 6:35 p.m., officers responded to a domestic assault report on the 300 block of Walnut Street South. Officers discovered it was only a verbal disagreement between exes during a child exchange. Nothing criminal took place.

Tuesday, August 13

At 12:16 p.m., police were called to the 500 block of Farmers Place after an unknown male in a vehicle stopped and  took a picture of the reporting person’s son and a neighbor’s son playing in the driveway and left. The vehicle was not located, and the incident was documented in case of future cases.

At 1:15 p.m., officers provided a life assist for a male who fell on the 600 block of Elk Street South. He was not injured and declined medical attention.

At 3:35 p.m., officers assisted the Minnesota State Patrol with a one-vehicle crash on Highway 169 and 270th Street in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance for his injuries.

At 9:31 p.m., an officer took a report of possible property damage on the 100 block of Church Street East in which a screen door was missing and a window appeared to have been tampered with. The incident is under investigation.

Wednesday, August 14

At 2:50 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 600 block of Main Street West in which a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 3:05 a.m., police were called to the 200 block of Meridian Street North because an intoxicated female was causing a disturbance in an alley. She was taken home and was able to care for herself.

At 9:54 a.m., officers visited a day care center on the 900 block of South Street East and spoke with the kids about safety topics and let them look at squad cars.

At 10:04 a.m., police received reports of a man knocking on doors and walking outside of homes on Shannon Lane. He was determined to be a tax assessor from the county and had proper credentials.

At 6:55 p.m., officers were called to the 900 block of Scott Lane for a domestic issue in progress. After investigation, a male, 46, from Belle Plaine, was arrested and jailed for felony domestic assault and felony fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. The female is also being reviewed for possible charges of domestic assault.

Thursday, August, 15

At 1:56 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 500 block of Church Street East in which a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 4:28 p.m., an officer took a possible tax fraud report from the 700 block of Heritage Lane. An ex-wife allegedly filed taxes under the husband’s name while he was in prison and cashed the return check. The case is under investigation.

At 10:07 p.m., police stopped a vehicle for equipment violations and found three teens inside and noticed the odor of marijuana. After investigation, one female, 16, of Belle Plaine, was cited for underage tobacco, and the male driver, 17, of Jordan, was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance and no license plate light.

Friday, August 16

At 8:10 a.m., an officer assisted the fire department with a residential carbon monoxide alarm that was sounding. Residents evacuated the home and declined medical attention. The officer provided traffic control.

At 1:43 p.m., police received a complaint of a white pickup truck giving teens rides on the tailgate of the truck near the high school. The license plate matched that of a known male student. He was not located at that time.

At 3:38 p.m., police took a report of a stolen bicycle from the 400 block of Prairie Street East. The incident is under investigation

At 6:08 p.m., an officer took a $40 gas drive-off report from the 1000 block of enterprise Drive East. The incident is under investigation.

At 6:50 p.m., a person came into the police department to report a road rage incident that had just happened on his way home. An officer heard from both parties and advised the suspect of future behavior.

At 7:31 p.m., police took a $19 gas drive-off report from the 1000 block of Enterprise Drive East. The incident is under investigation.

At 9:49 p.m., at the police department an officer assisted a Sibley County Deputy with a drunk driver evaluation.

Saturday, August 17

At 12:58 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 400 block of State Street West in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 3:15 a.m., officers were called for a disturbance at a tow shop on the 400 block of Main Street West. Parties arrived and took a vehicle from the lot after hours without paying the fees. When confronted, a party was hostile with the shop employee, and the employee called the police. Parties were advised to return the vehicle and speak with the shop owner in the morning and take care of the fees.

At 9:08 police responded to a medical call on the 100 block of Oakwood Drive in which a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 2:24 p.m., police were called to the 1000 block of State Street West due to a dispute the reporting party had with his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend. She had hidden some of his property. Police calmed things down and advised it be handled after everything cooled off.

At 8:27 p.m., police performed a welfare check on a highly intoxicated female on the 100 block of State Street West. She was not able to care for herself and wanted help. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Sunday, August 18

At 8:58 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 500 block of Oak Village Court in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
