During the week of Sept. 2-8, the Belle Plaine Police Department responded to the following selected calls:

Monday, September 2

At 10:50 a.m., officers were called to assist the Minnesota State Patrol, the DNR and Scott County emergency personnel  in a search for a missing person after a boat was found unoccupied with its motor running in the Minnesota River.

At 12:59 p.m., an officer took a property damage report on the 100 block of Main Street East. Someone had used lighter fluid to set a no parking sign on fire. The sign was out for weekly street cleaning. There were $100 in damages.

At 8:28 p.m., Sibley County requested an address check on a truck. It was not located.

At 11:42 p.m., an officer was called after the reporting person caught and confronted someone looking in their car and attempting to open it. When confronted, the suspect fled in another vehicle. The license plate number was given, and it did not match the suspect vehicle.

At 11:59 p.m., an officer was called after the reporting person saw a person walking outside with a headlight on and shortly after found his tires had been slashed. No investigation was requested.

Tuesday, September 3

At 1:36 a.m., officers were called to the 100 block of Church Street East for a possible domestic in progress. Upon arrival, all parties said it was a verbal argument and nothing physical. Both were intoxicated. They were separated for the night.

At 7:19 a.m., officers responded to a welfare check request for a male party on the 500 block of Haralson Drive. He was intoxicated but not out of control. He did not want any assistance.

At 7:48 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 500 block of Haralson Drive in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Wednesday, September 4

At 8:14 a.m., officers assisted County Public Works with an injured cow near 230th Street and Hickory Boulevard. It was determined that a male driver, 67, of Montrose, failed to latch the gate on his animal trailer, and the cow fell out while he was driving down the road. He continued to drive, leaving the cow injured on the road. He was cited for an unsecured load, and the cow was removed from the road.

At 9:02 a.m., police were called to the 900 block of Riverview Lane after it was determined that someone used the reporting person’s outdoor water spigot and stole over 7000 gallons of water over two nights.

At 9:58 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 700 block of O’Brien Avenue in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 11:14 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 300 block of Walnut Street South in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 2:39 p.m., an officer assisted the Le Sueur County Sheriff regarding a death notification on the 100 block of Main Street East.

At 5:23 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 300 block of Ash Street North in which a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Thursday, September 5

At 8:13 a.m., police assisted an adult female with a lift assist on the 200 block of State Street West.

Friday, September 6

At 9:15 a.m., officers were called to a two-vehicle accident on the 100 block of Aspen Lane North. After investigation, a male, 61, of Belle Plaine, was arrested for fourth-degree UI controlled substance, driving without a valid license and failing to drive with due care. The man was transported to the Scott County Jail.

At 10:05 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 900 block of Cedar Street South in which a male was examined by paramedics and transported to the hospital by his parents.

At 1:56 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 200 block of Chestnut Street South in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 2:47 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 500 lock of Haralson drive in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 7:42 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 500 block of Forest Street West in which a female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Saturday, September 7

At 12:20 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle pull into a park on the 400 block of Cedar Street North after it had closed. The officer advised the driver that the park was closed, and they said they were just playing Pokemon Go. They left the area.

At 1:04 a.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Orchard Street East because the reporting person’s ex wouldn’t stop calling and texting her. She was advised of her legal options. She did not want the ex contacted by police.

At 9:12 a.m., police responded to a medical call on the 200 block of State Street West in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 10:57 a.m., police were called to the 100 block of Aspen Lane North because a male was yelling at passing cars. It was determined that the male had speech difficulties and was just trying to get the cars to slow down so he could cross the road. He was assisted.

At 8:07 p.m., an officer was called to the 800 block of Main Street West after someone smelled marijuana in a building. A faint odor was detected, but there was no way to trace the source.

Sunday, September 8

At 1:45 a.m., police were called to the 700 block of Enterprise Drive East because a toilet was leaking, and the reporting person did not know whom to call and did not want anything damaged. An officer stopped the leak and called the key holders.

At 7:34 a.m., officers were called for a domestic in progress on the 300 block of Orchard Street East. After investigation, a male was arrested and jailed for misdemeanor domestic assault.

At 1:37 a.m., an officer was called to the 300 block of Ash Street North after the reporting person overheard a song her kids were listening to from social media that had threatening lyrics. The matter is under investigation.

At 2:48 p.m., police were called to the 800 block of Main Street West after a personal care worker found drug paraphernalia in her client’s laundry. The male client, 60, of Belle Plaine, was cited for possession of the paraphernalia.

At 3:10 p.m., police responded to a medical call on the 600 block of Butler Drive in which a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 7:09 p.m., police were called to the  100 block of Main Street  West after a concerned person called police because children were playing in the alley behind a bar while the parents were inside drinking. Parents were located and were advised about the complaint.

At 7:55 p.m., police performed a welfare check on a person on the 200 block of State Street West after a concerned person called about a friend. The friend was located and checked by paramedics but refused any medical treatment.
