During the week of October 5 -11, the Belle Plaine Police Department responded to the following selected calls:

Monday, Oct. 5

At 5:20 p.m. on the  900 block of Main St. W., a woman called police because she could not get into her home since her garage door would not open. An officer was able to manually open the door. They found it broken. The woman said she would call a repairman and take it from there.

At 6:40 p.m. on the 300 block of Market St. S., officers responded to a domestic in progress. After investigation, a male, age 17 from Belle Plaine, was arrested and jailed for domestic assault.

At 6:58 p.m. on the 500 block of Forest St. W., officers were called for a domestic in progress. According to police, neither party would cooperate, and there was no clear evidence of a crime. A female left for the night with family.

At 8:46 p.m. on the 800 block of Chestnut St. S., officers were called for another domestic in progress. After investigation, a male, age 73 from Belle Plaine, was arrested and jailed for domestic assault.

Tuesday, Oct. 6

At 2:18 a.m. on the 300 block of Walnut St. S., officers responded to a medical call. A female was checked by medics but refused transport.

At 5:43 a.m. on Walnut St. N. and Forest St. E,. an officer stopped a vehicle for speed, and found the female driver, age 24 from Belle Plaine, to be revoked. She was cited for Driving After Revocation.

At 10:31 a.m. a woman called to report a lost cell phone. Her information was collected in case a phone matching the description she gave was turned in.

At 1:29 p.m. on the 300 block of Walnut St. S., a person called police to report damage to a building after a box truck came through the drive through and hit the awning. The officer assisted with the accident exchange. There were no injuries.

At 1:56 p.m. on the 900 block of Lacy Ct., an officer spoke with a property owner regarding several ordinance violations on his property. The property owner was given a date to fix them by to avoid citations. The owner was cooperative.

At 1:59 p.m. on the 1000 block Morningside Way, a person called to make a threats report with police stemming from an incident that took place in another city. The police advised they would provide extra patrol and to make a report with the local jurisdiction as well.

At 3:34 p.m. on Main St. E. and Meridian St. S., an officer wrote an accident report after two vehicles tried to go through an intersection at the same time, both claiming to not have seen the other. There was damage to both front ends of the vehicles but no injuries.

Wednesday, Oct. 7

At 9:12 a.m. on the 1000 block of Enterprise Dr. E., an officer contacted a driver involved in a gas drive off. His payment did not process correctly and he needed to return to pay for the gas. He took care of it.

At 4:30 p.m. on the 300 block of Enterprise Dr. E., an officer called for a disturbance at a hotel. Once officers arrived, the parties causing issues had left.

At 4:36 p.m. on Hwy. 25 and County Rd. 40, officers assisted Carver County with an accident call.

At 7:49 p.m. on Meridian St. S. and Evergreen St. E., an officer stopped a vehicle for equipment violations and cited the female driver, age 63 from Belle Plaine, for no proof of insurance.

At 11:08 p.m. on Main St. E. and Hickory Blvd., an officer stopped a vehicle for a headlight that was out and found the female driver, age 20 from Belle Plaine, to be revoked. She was cited for Driving After Revocation.

Thursday, Oct. 8

At 7:36 a.m. on the100 block of Elk St. S., a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 10:17 a.m. on Walnut St. N. and Main St. E., an officer stopped and cited a semi driver, age 33 from Morristown, for using the dynamic braking system in city limits.

At 12:16 p.m. on the 300 block of Walnut St. S., there was a report of a female driving erratically in the parking lot and street of a motel and throwing something out the window. She was yelling at a male standing outside the motel. Both were located and advised of the complaint and their conduct.

At 2:11 p.m. on the 100 block of Eagle St. S., there was a report of a runway dog. The reporting person was advised if officers come across it, they would return it home. The person was also advised to call animal control in case someone else had caught it and turned it over.

At 3:40 p.m. on Morningside Way and Lindsey Ln., an officer observed a young boy alone and crying on the side of the road. At the same time, his mother called police to report him missing because he didn’t get off the bus at his stop. He accidentally got off the bus at the wrong stop. He was retuned to his mom.

At 4:32 p.m. on the 100 block of Main St. W.,  a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 5:13 p.m. on the 100 block of Church St. E., officers called for a domestic in progress. After investigation, a female, age 35 from Belle Plaine, was arrested and jailed for domestic assault and child endangerment.

Friday, Oct. 9

At 2:40 a.m. on the 900 block of Sunrise Ln., a woman called police after her intoxicated boyfriend went for a walk in a field without saying anything. She was worried at the odd behavior. When officers arrived, he had come back home and was okay. He said he just went for a walk.

At 3:22 a.m. two vehicles were cited and towed for parking downtown during weekly street cleaning. Signs were posted.

At 10:58 a.m. on the 800 block of Main St. E., officers received a driving complaint of a vehicle that almost hit another vehicle in the parking lot.  A male, age 44 from Minneapolis, was arrested on two warrants for 1st Degree DWI and cited for Driving After Cancellation, Inimical Public Safety.  Vehicle was towed.

At 11:23 a.m. on the 100 block of Elk St. S., a male was  taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 4:34 p.m. on the 25000 block of Hickory Blvd., a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 4:36 p.m. on the 200 block of State St. W., a male was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 5:47 p.m. on the 100 block of Church St. E., a female, age 35 from Belle Plaine, was arrested for a DANCO (Domestic Abuse No Contact Order) violation.

At 11:09 p.m. on the 900 block of Orchard St. E., an officer dispatched for a barking dog complaint.  Upon arrival, the owner brought the dog inside the residence.  Owner was advised of the city ordinance.

Saturday, Oct. 10

At 2:36 a.m. on Hwy. 169 and Raven Rd., an officer was called for a possible intoxicated driver.  The officer located the vehicle and after investigation of the stop, a female driver, age 26 from Plymouth, was arrested for 3rd Degree DWI, 2nd Degree DWI Refusal and multiple traffic violations.

At 8:37 a.m. on the 600 block of Main St. W., a female was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

At 2:23 p.m. on Hickory Blvd. and Scott Ln., an officer dispatched to an accident where a motor vehicle struck a bicyclist.  There were no injuries to the bicyclist.  A female, age 40 from Belle Plaine, was cited for stop sign violation and fail to drive with due care.

At 8:38 p.m. on the 400 block Linden St. N., a male was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Sunday, Oct. 11

At 12:12 a.m. on the 200 block of Broadway St. in Jordan, officers assisted Jordan PD with a combative male who fought with officers.  Belle Plaine officers assisted with scene management until it was cleared by the Jordan Police Department.

At 8:07 a.m. on the 100 block of Grove St. S., a phone charger was taken from an unlocked vehicle.  There is no suspect information at this time.

At 9:03 a.m. on Hwy. 25 and 311th Ave., officers assisted Sibley County Sheriff’s Department with a vehicle rollover with injuries.  Officers assisted until Sibley County Deputies arrived on scene.

At 11:15 a.m. on the 100 block of Commerce Dr. W., a female was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Additional Driving Citations

Four people were stopped and cited for speed violations, and three people were stopped and cited for failing to stop at a stop sign. One person was stopped and cited for failing to move over in violation of the Ted Foss Law. One person was cited for driving without a valid license, and another was cited for failing to provide proof of insurance.
