A 23-year-old was charged with second degree murder after stabbing his friend on Monday, Dec. 21, in Sand Creek Township, according to court documents.
According to the criminal complaint:
Taylor Jason Beuch called dispatch and said that his friend 23-year-old Casey Jeb Trutnau, later identified as the victim, attacked Beuch with a knife on the 4400 Block of Cedar Valley Lane.
Beuch said he then struck back to defend himself. The two men had been living together on a property in Jordan.
When officers arrived that afternoon, they saw Trutnau lying in the front yard with a large pool of blood nearby. Officers said he had lacerations on his cheek, shoulder, back, stomach, chest, and wrist.
The victim was transported by Life Link air ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center. He died from his injuries the following morning.
When Beuch was arrested, he was placed in the squad car and said that he was bleeding from his hand. The deputy saw a laceration on his finger and blood on his seat. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he received a CT scan and three stitches to his right pinky finger. He was then taken to the Scott County Jail.
Beuch told the officer that he never meant to hurt the victim that badly.
