During the week of September 7 – September 13, the Belle Plaine Police Department responded to the following selected calls:

Monday, September 7

At 6:26 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 200 block of Meridian St. S. The male was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 6:51 a.m. police responded to a blown transformer caused by an animal intruder at the 300 block of State St. W. The power outage resulted in portions of the town losing power for several hours, including stoplights at the intersection of Main St. and Old Hwy. 169 Blvd. Temporary stop signs were put in place until power was restored.

At 4:39 p.m. the Belle Plaine Fire Dept. and police officers responded to the 300 block Eagle St. N. with reports of smoke coming from a home. Upon arrival, it was determined to be steam from a dryer vent with no fire or smoke present.

At 9:37 p.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 500 block of Forest St. E. A female was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

At 9:37 p.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 300 block of Elm St. N. A male child was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Tuesday, September 8

At 1:55 p.m. a person reported that she had been scammed out of $1200 while trying to return items to Amazon. The police are investigating.

At 3:05 p.m. police received multiple reports  at the 200 block of Market St. S. about an Instagram page that appeared to harass local high school students regarding their political opinions. Police are investigating.

At 3:32 p.m. police responded to reports of loose horses near the bus garage at Commerce Dr W. & Enterprise Dr. They were caught and taken home by their owner before police arrived.

At 3:33 p.m. a 911 call was plotted in the area at Century St. W. & Meridian St. S. Before the caller hung up, dispatch believed it to be a domestic incident. Officers arrived and searched the area, asking people outside if they had seen or heard anything. No one had anything to report and any suspicious activity was unable to be located.

At 4:14 p.m. a person at the 1000 block of State St. W. called police for advice on how to handle a coyote that kept coming onto his property. The person did not want their dog to be hurt, and they were advised to call Animal Control for their options.

At 5:32 p.m. police responded at the 200 block of State St. W. after dispatch requested a welfare check on a woman who had called 911 several times and wasn't able to be understood. Officers arrived and found no one home. Officers later were called back to take a theft report from the same woman. Police are investigating.

Wednesday, September 9

At 7:41 a.m. police received a report of a resident burning garbage in their backyard fire pit, and the reporting person's house, yard and cars were covered in a layer of ash. City Code Enforcer was advised for follow up.

At 12:56 p.m. police received a report from somebody who had an unknown male emailing her to video chat. She was advised of her options, and it was documented in case of future issues.

At 1:52 p.m. police received a complaint of a dog left out in the rain at the 900 block of Cobblestone Ln. The owner was advised and brought the dog inside, saying he hadn't realized it started raining.

Thursday, September 10

At 4:41 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 500 block of Forest St. W. A female was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

At 5:14 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 800 block of Main St. W. A female was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

At 6:28 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 200 block of Oakwood Cir. A female was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

At 8:51 a.m. police responded to the 800 block on Elm St. S. concerning a report from child protection about a possible no contact order violation. After investigation, a 38 year old female from Belle Plaine was arrested for domestic assault violation, a no contact order and jailed.

At 11:59 a.m. an infant male was checked by medics at the 600 block of Ash St. S. No transport was needed.

At 4:26 p.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 200 block of State St. W. A male was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 4:50 p.m. an officer assisted SCSO with a medical issue at the 24000 block of Laredo Avenue.

At 6:11 p.m. police received a report of a possible hit and run at the high school. Owner of the vehicle called after finding out her brother may have hit another car while driving her vehicle. The school was advised; no victim has come forward yet.

At 11:31 p.m. police received a report at the 300 block of Enterprise Dr. E. that a male with no money would not leave a hotel after being refused a room. Officers attempted to get him assistance for a room, but his belligerence caused the hotel to refuse him a room regardless.

Friday, September 11

At 12:35 a.m. officers still on the scene at the 300 block of Enterprise Dr. received a report from a female about a domestic assault. After investigation, a 34 year old male from Mississippi was arrested and jailed for domestic assault.

At 3:02 a.m. at the 100 block of Meridian St. N. two females approached officers looking for advice on a domestic situation but would not offer anything more and left to go home.

At 3:56 a.m. in the downtown area, police cited and towed two vehicles for parking downtown illegally during regularly scheduled street cleanup.

At 5:19 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 700 block of Maple Cir. A male was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 7:02 a.m. police received a report of a found wallet at the 500 block of Church St. W. The owner was contacted and the wallet was picked up.

At 7:46 a.m. police received a request from a business at the 100 block of Aspen Ln. N. to trespass a male from their store for repeated loitering. When officers arrived, the male was gone, and the caller was advised to call police if the individual showed up again.

At 12:46 p.m. police received a call from a person who had just found out people were going through her home after it had burned. She knew the people and said she would handle it but wanted extra patrol; it was secured.

At 12:56 p.m. police arrived at the 700 block of Forest St. E. after a report of a hard to understand 911 call. Police located the home and checked with the female who said she was fine and had dialed 911 by accident.

At 1:25 p.m. at Grove St. S. and Prairie St. W. officers received a request for extra patrol at this intersection because high school aged drivers were not stopping for the new stop sign put in. Officers will patrol during high traffic times before and after school.

At 7:52 p.m. police were called about a suspicious vehicle parked for over two hours at a park with the area smelling like marijuana. After making contact with the male driver, 29 from Belle Plaine, and investigating, a felony level amount of marijuana was located in the vehicle along with drug paraphernalia. The vehicle was forfeited due to the level of charges, and the male was arrested and formally charged for both offenses.

Saturday, September 12

At 6:34 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 800 block of Main St. W. A male was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 10:58 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 900 block of Kayla Cir. A female was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 12:09 p.m. police assisted Carver County at Cty. Rd. 40  and 188th St. with a motorcycle accident involving injuries.

At 2:35 p.m. a debit card was turned into police at the 700 block of Enterprise Dr. E. The bank was called and after canceling it, they asked the police to destroy the card, per their policy.

At 6:53 p.m. police received a report from somebody who wanted a man trespassed for walking into their home uninvited. Officers know the man and he will be located and trespassed.

At 8:22 p.m police were called to the boat launch at Walnut St. N. & Forest St. E. about a couple who were fighting and pushing each other. Upon arrival of police, the caller said that they had just left. A good vehicle description was not obtained.

At 10:35 police were called about a loud music complaint. When they arrived at the scene, the music was off. The homeowner was made aware of the complaint and said they would keep the music off and close the garage door.

Sunday, September 13

At 12:16 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle at Enterprise Dr. E. & Meridian St. S. for not stopping at a stop sign. The female driver was cited for the violation.

At 12:42 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle at Orchard  St. E. & Meridian St. S. for not stopping at a stop sign. The male driver was cited for the violation.

At 1:08 a.m. police stopped a vehicle for going 76 mph in a 65 mph zone. The male driver was cited for speeding.

At 1:17 a.m. a reporting party called police because her daughter came home under the influence from a party out in the county. She could care for her daughter but wanted officers aware so they could check on the party. The county was notified.

At 3:38 a.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 400 block of Commerce Dr. E. A female was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

At 10:01 a.m. police stopped a vehicle at Highway 169 & Enterprise Dr. E. for going 75 mph in a 65 mph zone. The male driver was cited for speeding.

At 1:13 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Main St. E. & Walnut St. N. for not stopping at a stop sign. The male driver was cited for the violation.

At 1:19 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Main St. E. & Walnut St. N. for not stopping for a stop sign. The female driver was cited for the stop sign violation and for having no proof of insurance.

At 2:22 p.m. police responded to the 100 block of Elk St. S. for a medical call from a medical alert pendant. A male had fallen and needed help getting up. The fire dept. assisted. There were no injuries.

At 4:16 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Main St. E. & Linden St. S. for going 40 mph in a 30 mph zone. The male driver was cited for speeding.

At 5:11 p.m. police stopped a vehicle at Main St. E. & Hwy. 169 for an expired registration and found the male driver for this violation with no insurance.

At 5:13 p.m. a male was treated by paramedics on scene at 500 block Forest St. W. and refused transport.

At 5:30 p.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 200 block of Main St. W. A female was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.

At 6:50 p.m. police responded to a medical emergency at the 800 block of Maple St. S. A female was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
