Minnesota New Country School in Henderson announced today a change to their graduation celebrations this Saturday, May 30.
At the request of their seniors, the school will be hosting one graduation ceremony, instead of the two that were previously planned. The new graduation festivities will include a Senior Car Parade at 12:30 p.m. and a graduation ceremony at 1 p.m.
Seniors are encouraged to decorate their cars for the parade, which will exit from Bender Park onto Main Street, travel to the Sibley County Historical Museum, then loop around and take Main Street back to the MNCS parking lot.
Upon arriving back at MNCS, graduates will receive their diploma and be given their hat and tassel. Graduates will then re-enter their car and park where directed.
Only one to two parking spots will be reserved per family. For planning purposes, the families of this year's graduates should contact Joan Skelly at email@example.com to communicate whether one or two parking spots is needed.
"Our staff has been working tirelessly on this graduation, wanting it to be the most special day we can create," the The Senior Team and MNCS Staff said in a release to the Independent." After being a part of other 'Parking Lot Graduations' we can assure you, though it is not as you imagined, it will be exciting and memorable."
