Belle Plaine Fire and Police departments along with the Minnesota State Patrol responded to an accident on Hwy. 169 and Meridian St. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, around 12:30 p.m. According to the police department, the driver was okay and the vehicle was towed.

2020 Year In Review: Belle Court Apartments Construction Showing Progress
Work at the Belle Court apartment complex was well underway, and crews on Monday, June 1, began framing the third floor of three. Schrom Construction, the contractor, anticipated a November completion for the first of two major buildings on the property on the south side of Belle Plaine.

A ribbon cutting ceremony commemorating the grand opening of the skating and hockey rinks at Belle Plaine’s Hickory Park was set for Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 4 p.m. The Belle Plaine Hockey Association was eager to get on the ice and had been posting updates about the rink on social media. An unidentified individual, who later became known as "The Grinch who stole St. Patrick's Day," filed down the streets of Belle Plaine on Saturday, March 14, along the parade route that would have featured the St. Patrick's Day parade, if it hadn't been canceled.

Playground Equipment Closed Throughout the City
Officials with the City of Belle Plaine announced Friday, April 3, that they have opted to close playground equipment throughout the city in an effort to stop the spread of COVID-19. The parks across the city remain open, but playground equipment is no longer an option as structures will not be sanitized.

St. John Lutheran Church hosted a Christmas Eve service on Dan Schmidt’s farm between Belle Plaine and Blakeley. The pastor and musicians conducted the service from a makeshift altar on a hay wagon and lift.
More than 50 cars full of people came out to celebrate Christmas Eve on Dan Schmidt’s farm. Most people tuned into the service on their car radios, but about 20 people sat around fires on socially distanced hay bales to hear the music outside.
