On Thursday, Jan. 28, the Belle Plaine Explosion Dance Team hosted Southwest Christian and Randolph for a meet. The Tigers took first place in the jazz category, followed by Southwest Christian in second and Randolph in third. Belle Plaine remains at the top of the conference in Jazz. Minnesota River Conference standings for Jazz as of Monday, Feb. 1:
1. Belle Plaine 2. Southwest Christian 3. Mayer Lutheran/Norwood Young America/Watertown-Mayer 4. Randolph 5. Tri-City United.

The Tigers earned first place in the high kick portion of the competition as well during Thursday’s home meet. Randolph earned second place, and Southwest Christian placed third. The Tigers again lead the pack in High Kick. Minnesota River Conference standings for High Kick as of Monday, Feb. 1: 1. Belle Plaine 2. Randolph 3. Tri-City United 4. The Belle Plaine Plaine Police Department hosted a “Skate with a Cop” night on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Hickory Park. Belle Plaine Police Officer Dave Weckman laced up his hockey skates to play a game with local kids.
Aria Jamison and Coach Murr lead the Nordic Ski Team during practice at the Ney Nature Center in Henderson on Friday, Jan. 29. They were followed closely behind by Cassidy DeYoung and Savanna DeYoung.
Karim Tolbert scored 16 points when the Tigers competed against Southwest Christian on Friday night, Jan. 29, in Belle Plaine.
Mayor Chris Meyer presented a Certificate of Service to Crystal Doyle, who served on the Economic Development Authority from 2015-2021, at Monday night’s city council meeting.

Guard Hayley O’Brien shot the ball during Thursday’s away game at Tri-City United. O’Brien had four assists for the Tigers on Jan. 28.
Lizzy Schmidt went in for a layup during Thursday’s game. Schmidt scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in the match against TCU on Jan. 28.
