Firefighter Clinton Herrmann was named the 2020 Firefighter of the Year for the Belle Plaine Fire Department.
“I definitely didn’t see it coming, that’s for sure. I’m just doing the job the best I can to try to get the best help out to the community,” said Herrmann.
Herrmann was chosen for the award because of his willingness to always help out new members and his record of responding to about 75 percent of calls, one of the highest percentages of all firefighters in the department.
Herrmann joined the Belle Plaine Fire Department six years ago to make a difference for his community and carry on his family legacy.
His grandparents, brother, and cousins have all served on the department over the years.
“I was lucky enough to keep it going for another generation,” he said.
