The local Cub Scout Pack 324 held its annual Pinewood Derby at St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine on Sunday, Jan. 12.

Pack leaders described the event as having a great turnout as they held the event with the local Girl Scout troop.

The overall winners of this year’s events were Dominic Veercamp in first place, Asher Vogel in second and Thomas Carstens taking third.

“All these scouts have worked hard on their derby cars for at least a month and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments,” said Cubmaster Jason Palo. “We would not be able to hold this event without the wonderful support of our volunteers. Thanks to the volunteers who helped out with this year’s derby; it was a success.”
