Dominic Devine, 19, of New Prague was put on one year of supervised probation and fined $600 by Scott County District Judge Paula Vraa, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor cruelty to animals for killing a goose with his truck.
A New Prague woman called in the incident in which she described two males attempting to run over geese on the side of the road in a black truck, according to the Scott County Sheriff’s report.
The woman reported to deputies that Devine killed a goose while trying to run over a flock of geese.
Devine later admitted to hitting the goose and claimed the goose “came out in front of him,” according to the report. He later changed his story to say that it was an accident.
The report also notes that the reporting witness confronted Devine and a young passenger, which allegedly resulted in a minor verbal confrontation.
Devine’s 15-year-old passenger was not cited.
