Authorities are searching the Minnesota River north of Belle Plaine after they received a report of a running, unoccupied boat near the Hwy 25 bridge on Monday. According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at 10:50 a.m.

Witnesses reportedly located the boat near the shoreline and were unable to locate anyone in the vicinity. Multiple agencies then began a search.

No occupants have been located at this time, and the search is expected to continue until dark. Authorities will continue on Tuesday if needed, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Belle Plaine Police Department, Belle Plaine Fire Department, Carver County Sheriff’s Office, Sibley County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota DNR, Minnesota State Patrol, Jordan Fire Department, Henderson Fire Department, Carver Fire Department, Shakopee Mdewakanton Public Safety, Carver County Dive Team, and Ridgeview Ambulance.
