Le Sueur County Deputies responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. 

A Belle Plaine man is dead after his duck hunting boat capsized on Clear Lake (also known as Lexington Lake) in Lexington Township on Saturday, Nov. 28, according to the Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office.

Le Sueur County Deputies responded to the scene around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival Deputies located 29-year-old Nicholas Jeffrey Brooks from Belle Plaine sitting on top of the overturned duck boat. 

Deputies found 55-year-old Jeffrey Ernest Brooks from Belle Plaine floating in the water several yards from the overturned duck boat, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Both parties were retrieved from the water.

Nicholas Brooks was transported by a private party to the Mayo Clinic Health System in New Prague.

Lifesaving efforts were performed on Jeffrey Brooks and he was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office reported that Jeffrey Brooks died during the night-time hours at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. The Le Sueur County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the boating accident.

Agencies assisting were the MN DNR, Le Center Fire Department, Le Center Ambulance Service and Mayo Air Care.
