In a few days, the McDonald's restaurant in Belle Plaine will close.
Managers and representatives of McDonald's and the location's parent company, Choate and Company of Minnesota, confirmed Thursday that the Belle Plaine McDonald's, located at 1050 E. Enterprise Drive, will close at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
“McDonald’s reviews its restaurant locations on a regular basis to make the best decisions for our business moving forward. Closing the Belle Plaine restaurant was a difficult decision, but we look forward to continuing to serve our customers in our neighboring communities of Jordan, New Prague and Prior Lake, as well as Canterbury and Marschall Road in Shakopee. We’ve also taken steps to ensure that our Belle Plaine employees have the opportunity to continue working for us at our other McDonald’s locations," said Mary Choate, secretary/treasurer of Choate and Company, which is the McDonald's franchisee that operates the Belle Plaine location.
According to the company's website, http://www.archpowered.com/choatemcd, Choate and Company of Minnesota started in 1987 and operates 12 restaurants in the Twin Cities and the surrounding area, including two in Shakopee, one in Prior Lake and one in New Prague, in addition to the location in Belle Plaine.
The Belle Plaine McDonald’s was the Choate family’s 12th McDonald’s restaurant, opening in November of 2011. Due to the pandemic, the Belle Plaine location closed its dine-in service but offered drive-through, take-out and McDelivery.
In July the McDonald’s company announced that it would be permanently closing 200 of its 14,000 U.S. locations and reported its lowest quarterly profits in 13 years, according to the Financial Times.
