Responding to a report of a female with her leg over the edge of the Highway 25 Bridge north of Belle Plaine, the Belle Plaine Police Department pulled a teenager who was apparently attempting suicide back onto the bridge last Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12.

According to Belle Plaine Police Chief Tom Stolee, the teen, from Arizona, had said to officers, “Just let me go,” before they were able to pull her back onto the flat surface of the bridge after she had partially cleared the edge of the structure that overhangs the Minnesota River.

A Ridgeview ambulance then transported her to a medical facility to be psychologically evaluated. No update on her condition was available.

The juvenile was not from Belle Plaine, but Stolee stated she has family in the area.
