A benefit, hosted by the friends family and classmates of Mark Olson, is set for Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Shakopee VFW Post 4046.

Olson, known to many in Belle Plaine, was left wheelchair-bound after falling 12 feet onto his neck from a garage on Jan. 11, 2019.

The event will run from 4-11 p.m. and will include a spaghetti dinner available for $4, a silent auction and a cash bar. The event will be emceed by longtime Minnesota Gopher’s announcer, Dick Jankowski.

Among auction items are boxing gloves autographed by Muhammad Ali, Minnesota Vikings jerseys autographed by former Vikings quarterback Tommy Kramer, a hot air balloon ride, and many more items, experiences and services.

The Shakopee VFW is located at 1201 3rd Ave.
