The annual Henderson Hummingbird Hurrah is happening next weekend, Saturday, August 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The events will take place at the Henderson Hummingbird Garden, 209 N. Fourth St, Henderson. Activities are also held at Bender Park, 200 N. Third St. and Minnesota New Country School, 210 Main St.
Rain or shine, licensed bander Donald Mitchell will be on hand from 9 a.m. to noon to safely capture, weigh, measure, band and release as many of the beautiful little hummingbirds as time permits.
Also returning are crowd favorite Master Gardener-led tours, and speakers Al Batt, Mitchell and David Rice.
Children’s activities inside the MNCS building will include the return of Lollipop the Clown and the ever-popular coloring contest.
Lana Beck will be hosting two sessions of painting classes for $15.
The Hummingbird Mall will host local food vendors, artisans and educational booths.
The Hummingbird Hurrah is organized by Henderson Feathers, a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization and this is their only fundraiser of the year.
