Authorities on Thursday, Sept. 5 located a body approximately 500 yards from the location of a running, unoccupied boat that was found on the Minnesota River near Belle Plaine on Sept. 2. The body was located at around 7:42 a.m.

The discovery comes after authorities from multiple agencies began searching for Bruce Copenhaver, 62, of Watertown, after he went missing from his boat on Sept. 2. Copenhaver was alone while fishing on the river.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed it was Copenhaver who was found. The office determined he likely drowned.
