The curling lanes at Hickory Park will be open to the public on Saturday, Jan. 9, weather permitting.

The City of Belle Plaine has been working on setting up the curling center since November.

It will have two lanes that are 110 feet long and 13 feet wide. This is slightly shorter than a typical indoor rink which can be up to 150 feet long and 16.5 feet wide.

There will be curling brooms and stones available onsite, and attendants will be available to help participants check out equipment.

Hickory Park is also home to hockey and skating rinks, which will remain open as well this season.
