On Saturday, Sept. 26, Dave’s Compass will be hosting a fundraising event and dinner/banquet at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan.
Dave’s Compass is an organization founded in 2019 in memory of David Arkins and started by his family and loved ones. The organization works with others to help educate and support those dealing with mental health illnesses, as well as working to eliminate the stigma surrounding these illnesses.
The organization has partnered with the Nickel Open Fund (a non-profit) and will be donating proceeds to the National Alliance on Mental Illness MN (NAMI MN) and to the Duck Cup Memorial Fund.
The organization’s mission statement reads: “We come together to both celebrate Dave’s life and to raise public awareness of both mental health and illness. Our hope is that, through our efforts, we can lessen the shame and stigma of mental illness. We hope to empower and encourage people in need to reach out for support and help.”
Registration on the 26th starts at 11:15 a.m. and the banquet begins at 6:30 p.m. More information can be found at davescompass.org.
