Belle Plaine School District Leaders Prepare for Possibility That In-Person School Will Be Canceled for Remainder of the School Year

The filing period to apply for a position on the Belle Plaine School Board will begin on Tuesday, July 28. Those interested in applying may file a candidacy form with the school district clerk at 220 South Market Street, Belle Plaine, or online at www.belleplaine.k12.mn.us under the school board page.

All applicants must submit a $2 filing fee and submit their applications by Tuesday, August 11,  before 5 p.m.

The general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3; three school board members will be elected for four-year terms.

The school board meets twice monthly and currently consists of seven members, three of whom have terms set to expire in December of 2020. School board members Terry Kahle, Tracy O’Brien and Terry Morrison are set to either complete their terms or run again.

A candidate for this position must be an eligible voter, 21 years of age or more on assuming office, a resident of the school district for thirty days before the election, and have no other affidavit on file for another office position at the ensuing general election.
