A woman is dead following a crash in Carver County on Sunday, Aug. 2.

At about 3:23 p.m., the Carver County Sheriff's Office received a report of an accident involving a motorcycle on County Road 40 near 188th Street in San Francisco Township.

The woman, whom the sheriff's office identified as Laura Loge, 48, of Fridley, was reportedly traveling south on County Road 40 when she lost control of her motorcycle. A witness said Loge ran off the road after encountering rocks and gravel off the road's edge. Loge then traveled down a ditch embankment and struck a wooden power line utility pole, the sheriff's office said.

The incident remains under the sheriff's office's investigation. The Minnesota State Patrol, Ridgeview Ambulance, the Belle Plaine Fire Department, and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office assisted the sheriff's office.
