Modern Woodmen Insurance of Le Sueur has donated $500 to the Henderson Area Food Share. The National Modern Woodmen Fraternal Benefit Society has set up a COVID-19 Relief Fund. It is designed to help local organizations continue their important work during these challenging times.
Modern Woodmen is a fraternal benefit society founded in 1883, and they support members, families and communities with both financial and fraternal services. Modern Woodmen has a strong commitment to giving back to communities to make a local impact for the good of all.
Through the COVID-19 Relief Fund, each chapter of Modern Woodmen can make a monetary donation to a local non-profit organization of its choosing. This relief fund addresses the needs of communities nationwide created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chuck Frauendienst, the Modern Woodmen representative from Le Sueur, chose the Henderson Area Food Share because of the need for food support. Many families have lost their jobs and need food support. At the last distribution on April 16, 60 families received food. Unfortunately, 20 families were turned away. Of the 60 that were served, 40 of them were new recipients.
Henderson Area Food Share is very thankful for the generous gift from Modern Woodmen. It has allowed the Food Share to add an additional food distribution on May 7 at 4:30 p.m. at Centennial Lutheran Church in Henderson. The Food Share is planning to have enough food boxes for 80-90 families. Hamburger, chicken, pork, bread, cereal, milk and fresh produce are some of the food that will be included in the boxes.
In these challenging times, it is such a blessing to see the outpouring of support and care for people in need.
