Tree lighting

For five years, Belle Plaine has celebrated its illustrious holiday tree lighting ceremony by way of the Belle Plaine Historical Society.

The event will take place at the Hooper-Bowler-Hillstrom House, located at 410 N. Cedar St. In addition to the 7 p.m. tree lighting on Thursday evening, Dec. 6, guests can expect a lineup of events to initiate the holiday season.

Beginning at 6 p.m., chamber choir singers will welcome visitors to the event. If the winter weather becomes too much for guests to handle, they need not worry as a warming tent will be available thanks to Chestnut Realty.

At the Red Barn Museum, children and adults can enjoy visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer, as well as decorate  ornaments to take home.
