The City of Belle Plaine and Police Department hosted the annual observance of National Night Out, a crime and drug prevention event, during the August Community Conversations at Heritage Square Park on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Residents had the opportunity meet and interact with numerous Belle Plaine public servants from the Belle Plaine city council, Fire Department and Police Department as well as partake in multiple games and enjoy free hot dogs.

The event, which invited individuals and families to the park, also included bounce houses, a bike helmet giveaway and face painting by the Belle Plaine royalty.

National Night Out is a community-police awareness-raising event that is intended to help police work with residents to heighten safety and crime prevention awareness by building a stronger community.
