With early April weather already hitting a high of 84 degrees in Belle Plaine, local customers are getting excited about the chance to enjoy outdoor dining this spring and summer at some of their favorite establishments.
On Monday, April 5, Public Works crews installed temporary patios at downtown businesses. These patios will be in place until mid-October this year. In 2020, city council and city staff worked with downtown businesses to create these outdoor spaces as a way to help businesses generate income throughout pandemic related capacity restrictions. The city is offering these patios again as an option in 2021. After this season, any business owners who wish to have a patio yearly will be required to request a permit.
