After just over one year after their grand opening, Solid Grounds Coffee House is set to close down its operation effective Sept. 18.
In a release, The Lutheran Home Association, the coffee house’s parent institution, stated that the “tough choice” to suspend operations came as a result of unforeseen hurdles for the business based in the Ridgeview Health Campus in Belle Plaine.
“We are suspending operations at Solid Grounds given the slow market conditions,” said Michael Klatt, President and CEO at TLHA. “We are committed to the Ridgeview Health Campus success and our partnership with the providers. KingsPath will continue to serve seniors and we are evaluating other enhancements on the health campus.”
Patrons are encouraged to use gift cards or discounts before Sept. 18, the release states.
Solid Grounds had its grand opening on July 20 of last year.
The Lutheran Home staff held an informal contest to select the shop’s name. Mark Hayes, TLHA’s vice president of mission advancement, offered the name Solid Grounds as a blend of The Lutheran Home’s mission of faith on solid ground and coffee grounds, Klatt said.
