Highway 169

Sunrise was still about a half-hour away when a St. Peter man lost his life in a fatal tractor-semi collision on Highway 169 Wednesday morning.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Mark Michael Osborne, 58, of St. Peter was driving his International Farmall tractor southbound on Highway 169 at mile marker 71 in Lake Prairie Township at 6:18 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, when he collided with a semi, with a devastating result.

The semi, a 2020 Mack Tractor Truck, operated by Randall Allen Shively, 62, of Woodbury, was also traveling southbound. The state patrol report did not state which party was at fault for the accident.

Osborne died from injuries sustained in the crash, while Shively was not injured.

Road conditions were dry at the time of the accident, and alcohol was not a factor.

The Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office, St. Peter Police Department, St. Peter Fire Department, and Allina Ambulance all assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
