The Easter Bunny is still coming to town this year, although with COVID-19 concerns, she is making house calls instead of throwing a large community event.
Edina Realty agent and Henderson Township resident Becky Boelter is taking it upon herself to bring some Easter magic to the greater Mankato area.
Boelter, dressed up as the Easter Bunny, will be delivering Easter eggs to backyards in Henderson, Le Sueur, Belle Plaine, Arlington, Gaylord, Green Isle, St. Peter, Kasota, and Mankato this spring; she delivered the first of her eggs last week.
Boelter put a message on her Edina Realty page on March 18, inviting parents to sign up their children (ages 17 and younger) for an Easter Egg Hunt. Boelter planned to deliver a pre-packaged egg with a toy inside to the first 1,000 children.
When she posted the video, Boelter expected maybe 50 households to sign up. She was quite surprised when 500 households, representing 1,001 children, signed up in the first 12 hours!
With that success, she ordered more eggs and expanded to 1,600 children. As of Monday evening, March 23, she was up to 1,200 children who had signed up for a visit from the Easter Bunny.
Boelter began the first of her deliveries on March 25-27, including visits to Henderson houses last Wednesday and Friday. Although the children were excited to see the Easter Bunny, Boelter said their giggles of joy brightened her day as well.
“It is just so simple and awesome. It has been a blast,” she said.
Right now, Boelter is following the governor’s Stay at Home order, but said she will be back on her delivery route when it is lifted.
Anyone who has not signed up already is welcome to do so at www.soldbuybecky.com/egg-hunt-2020
“I am really excited about this. It will be a great way for everybody to get outside and get a little fresh air and keep our social distancing going and still enjoy the Easter season,” Boelter said.
