Baby boy George Winton and baby girl Remi James are only days old, but they already have a lot of things that set them apart - different genders, different birth months and born in two different decades.
George, born at 11:44 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2019, weighed 5 pounds, 1 ounce and was 18 inches long. Remi entered the world 17 minutes later at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2020 and was 5 pounds and18 inches long.
Remi and George were delivered by Dennis Mohling, MD, Western OB/GYN at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
“Birth center staff was very excited to be part of this unique delivery of the Mase twins,” said Ridgeview Director of Marketing & Communications Lisa Steinbauer.
Born to Melissa and Ben Mase of Cologne, the twins were delivered naturally at 35 weeks after a short labor. Both babies are doing well but are in the Neonatal Care Unit (NCU) at Ridgeview because they were born early.
George was the last baby born at Ridgeview Medical Center in 2019 where they had a record number of births this year totaling 1,347.
Remi also has the unique honor of sharing a birthday with her grandfather, Melissa’s father.
Melissa and Ben have three other children: William, age 11, Lucia, age nine, and Ella, age two and a half.
