A couple from South Dakota is dead following a fatal motorcycle-farm tractor crash in Arlington Township over the weekend.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol report:
On Saturday, June 1, at 4:06 p.m., Marvin Fandrich, 60, and Kathy Fandrich, 61, both of Aberdeen, S.D., were traveling eastbound on Highway 19 on a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Curtis Petzel, 60, of Arlington, was driving a tractor with a farm trailer westbound on Highway 19 when the farm trailer separated from the tractor and traveled into the eastbound lane and collided with the Fandriches’ motorcycle. The farm trailer and motorcycle both entered the eastbound ditch.
Petzel was not injured in the crash.
The Henderson Police Department, Henderson Fire Department, Ridgeview Ambulance, Arlington Ambulance, and Sibley County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
Petzel was involved in another fatal accident involving a motorcyclist almost two years ago.
On August 15, 2017, Petzel was driving a pickup when he rear-ended a Camry that was slowing to make a left turn by Highway 19 and Third Avenue SE in Gaylord. The impact spun the Camry around and pushed it into the eastbound lane and into the path of Brian Severin, 59, of Gaylord, who was driving a motorcycle.
Severin was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Camry driver, Anna Mae Eisenbraun of Gaylord, suffered non-critical injuries. Petzel was unhurt.
