Two people were arrested and charged with 3rd degree murder and aiding and abetting 3rd degree murder following a man’s overdose death in Waconia, according to the Carver County Sheriff office. Deputies responded to a medical call involving an unresponsive adult male on the 600 block of 1st Street E in Waconia on August 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m. According to the sheriff’s office, when deputies arrived they found 33-year old Jeffrey Jayson Hanson unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital where he later died. Deputies noted evidence of recent intravenous drug use and suspected Hanson had overdosed on controlled substances.
After obtaining a search warrant for the premises, deputies found hypodermic needles and suspected heroin. Authorities also discovered the heroin tested positive for fentanyl using a field test kit.
Through further investigation, deputies learned 24-year-old Alexander Brent Finney of Chaska and 26-year-old Nicole Elizabeth Marini of Fridley were suspected to have sold Hanson the controlled substances. Finney was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and Nicole Marini was arrested and charged with aiding and abetting third-degree murder.
