In addition to Belle Plaine High School shutting its doors on Friday, Jan. 17, due to a strong winter storm which dropped several inches or more throughout the region, a number of high school activities, county services and other happenings were postponed or canceled last weekend.
Minnesota River Conference One-Act Play Festival
Originally slated for 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, the MRC One-Act Play Festival, which kicks off the high school one-act season, was canceled Friday afternoon, Jan. 17, amid threats of 6-10 inches of snow for the area. Representatives from the Minnesota River Conference have not yet announced a makeup date.
Two BPHS activities scheduled for Friday night, Jan. 17, and three for Saturday, Jan. 18, were canceled or postponed.
The semi-formal SnoFest Dance, originally scheduled for Friday, Jan. 17, was postponed to an unannounced date. Friday night’s varsity and B-squad girls basketball games in Belle Plaine against Southwest Christian were rescheduled for Monday, Feb. 17.
The BPHS Dance Invitational at Totino-Grace High School, Scott West’s Wrestling tournament at Eastview High School, and the boys C-squad basketball tournament at Holy Family, all originally scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 18, have been canceled, according to the BPHS online activity calendar.
Scott County Library Events
Originally planned for Saturday, Jan. 18, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Shakopee Public Library, Scott County Historical Society’s presentation “History of the Minnesota River Valley” has been canceled.
Other canceled or postponed library events include “TLC Music at the Jordan Library” and “TLC Music at the New Prague Library.”
