The 2020 BPHS Homecoming royalty were honored at a ceremony on the football field on Monday, Nov. 2, to kick off Homecoming week which goes through Nov. 6. A state trooper handed out treats to Belle Plaine trick-or-treaters dressed as Mario, Luigi, and a witch. Law enforcement personnel from the police department, fi re department, DNR, and public works also handed out treats and showcased their equipment on Friday, Oct. 30.

Parents and children came out to downtown Belle Plaine on Friday, Oct. 30, for the Belle Plaine Chamber of Commerce’s annual event, Business Trick or Treating. This year the event was combined with the city’s National Night Out from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

Max Larson and Lizzy Schmidt were crowned Belle Plaine’s Homecoming King and Queen at the coronation ceremony on Monday, Nov. 2.Â
Voters took to the polls at Belle Plaine City Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Election officials had several COVID-19 precautions in place, including the addition of curbside voting.
Erin Morrison donated a heifer to 13-year-old Tyler Mitchell at the 2020 Shorthorn Fall Classic, hosted by the Morrison family over MEA weekend.Â

Staff from The Lutheran Home Association Belle Plaine Campus took residents on an evening stroll on Wednesday, Oct. 28, to view 30 carved pumpkins for their pumpkin spectacular.
Community members carved extra pumpkins this year to donate to TLHA and help make the pumpkin spectacular possible.Â

Belle Plaine junior Derek Gruhn wrapped up the Jordan running back, as junior Tolbert Karim and sophomore Andrew Siegle prepared to jump in during Friday’s game against the Hubmen.
Sophomore Seth Rucks caught the football during the away game against Jordan on Friday night, Oct. 30. The Tigers lost 55-0.
The entire Belle Plaine Volleyball Team celebrated as McKenna Ziemke threw her hands up in the air after scoring a point against Southwest Christian on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Junior Lilli Kahle jumped for the volleyball as her teammate Abby Fisel stood ready on Thursday, Oct. 29. The Tigers lost Thursday’s game 0-3.
The Belle Plaine Girls Cross Country Team competed against Fairmont and Minnehaha Academy during Saturday’s meet. The girls earned second place in their heat and seventh place overall.
Belle Plaine Cross Country teammates Adam Stiemke and Sam Van Zummeren ran side by side in the TCRC Showdown near Atwater on Saturday, Oct. 31. Both runners finished the course with a time of 18:57.
