Lauretta B. Perkins, 99, of Le Sueur, passed away on November 14, 2020 at Ridgeview Nursing and Rehab Center in Le Sueur, Minnesota.
Due to the restrictions imposed by the COVID pandemic, Lauretta was unable to fulfill a long-held plan of donating her physical remains to the Mayo Medical School for education and training purposes. Her cremated remains will be interred as part of a private service at a later date at the East Union Lutheran Church cemetery in Carver. Lauretta was particularly proud of the fact she was baptized, confirmed, and married at the East Union Lutheran Church and that her cremated remains will be buried there as well. Memorials to the donor’s choice.
Lauretta was born on October 13, 1921, in rural East Union to Hjalmer and Theadora (Scott) Johnson. She grew up in the East Union/Carver area, and attended public schools in East Union and Chaska.
She married Henry Perkins on July 3, 1939 at East Union Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed around the East Union area while their family expanded and eventually moved to Belle Plaine.  The family relocated to Le Sueur in 1960.
Lauretta was employed in a number of positions over the years in Belle Plaine and LeSueur, including customer and food service, factory production and supervision,  plastics, L.P. gas distribution, and business promotions.
Lauretta and Henry enjoyed traveling in their assortment of campers and travel trailers and visited 49 of the 50 states, missing out only on sight-seeing in Alaska. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to old-time music, bowling, playing cards and dice with family and friends, and spending time with and attention to her pets.
Lauretta is survived by her children, Patricia Steckman of Henderson, Darryl (Sharron) Perkins of New Prague, Roberta (Pam) Perkins of Woodburn, Oregon, Rick (Mary) Perkins of Le Sueur, and Sheila Perkins (special friend, Tim) of St. Louis Park; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her oldest child, Keith; grandson, Daniel; a great-granddaughter; her parents; siblings, Ethylene (William) Mueller, Izene (Reuben) Schultz, Floyd (Vera) Johnson, and Septer (Marcella) Johnson;  an infant sister who died at birth; and her nephew (and “seventh child”) Curt Mueller.
