Myra Johnson Kerkow

Myra Johnson Kerkow, 78 of Belle Plaine, went home to heaven on Wednesday, July 25, 2019 at Kingsway.
Funeral Service will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday August 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Martin Bentz officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the church. There will be a meal following the service.
Myra was born on December 15, 1940 to Viola Baumann and Frank Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.
Myra graduated from 8th grade in 1954 from Trinity Grade School in Belle Plaine and from Belle Plaine High School in 1958. She graduated Minnesota school of Laboratory Technique. Then she worked as a Lab Tech in Caledonia until 1961.
Myra married Ralph (Red) Kerkow in December 1961. She spent nine months in Texas with Red while he was serving in the army at Fort Hood. She returned to Belle Plaine with Red and established home in Belle Plaine and Blakeley.
In 2002 they bought a travel trailer until 2011 when they returned to Belle Plaine. In 2013 she lost the love of her life, Red.
She is survived by her four children, Jeff (Joane), Frank (Retta), Jenny (Bob) Wagner, Sam (Rachelle) Kerkow; seven grandchildren, Alex, Andy (Maja) Kerkow, Zach and Connor Kerkow, Jesse Wagner, Colton and Bailey Kerkow, sister, Lorna (Clair) Budke; and many relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by husband, Ralph (Red); parents, Frank and Viola Johnson; brother-in-law, Herbert Johnson; sister, Eunice Johnson; and best friend, Mary Mathwig.
