Tom was born on November 22, 1941 to Martin and Marie (Berger) Morrison in Arlington. He grew up on the family farm in Faxon Twp., Sibley County, and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1959. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard until 1962.

Tom enjoyed hunting; he would hunt deer and elk in Wyoming, and deer and pheasant in Iowa. His hunting group consisted of his son, nephew Steve, Godchild Barry O’Brien, Jeremy O’Brien, and his black lab.  He loved going ‘Up North’ fishing on Hay Lake with his family, especially with his grandson, Cade. Tom also enjoyed watching his son’s, grandson’s and nephew’s baseball games.
