The Belle Plaine Fastpitch 12U Black Team participated in the State Tournament on July 9 - 10 and came home with the championship.

The team was taught and led throughout the season by coaches Shelbi Mack and Lily Mosemen.

Mack explained how the team’s main focus and the goals they set involved growing closer as a team and learning how to trust each other.

“I think one of the main things that helped us was gaining the confidence in each other and becoming an actual team, rather than just players playing together,” said Mack.

After helping her dad coach his team, Mack decided she wanted to become a coach herself and was able to start off with a victory.

Going into the game, the team was told to focus on playing like they practiced.

“I just told them to be confident, and no matter what happens we made it this far, which was a lot better than we thought we would at the beginning,” said Mack

After the game Mack said she was happy for the girls and was proud to see how far they had come from the start of the season.
