The Belle Plaine Tigers hoped to continue their bid at the state tournament when they took on Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Thursday night in New Prague.

Entering Sub-section 2AA North match-up on March 5 as the no. 4 seed, the Tigers had their work cut out for them when they took on the top-seeded MVL Chargers.

Straight away, the Chargers began imposing their will on the Tigers and jumped to a 16-7 lead. Belle Plaine struggled to slow the Chargers' momentum and found themselves trailing 41-19 at the half.

The Chargers continued the heat as they jumped in and out of a nearly 30-point lead throughout the second half.

With three minutes on the clock, the Tigers trailed by an insurmountable 27 points, 70-43, and at the close of the contest, the Tigers fell 77-45, wrapping up their season.

Senior Josh Gregory  led the Tigers with 14 points. Dylan Kahle had 8 points, Karim Tolbert took home 7 points, and Jack Kruger had 6 points.

The Tigers finished their season with a winning 15-12 record overall.
