Feb. 7: 73-63 Loss to Jordan

A slow start for the Belle Plaine Tigers gave them the tough task of overcoming the Jordan Hubmen, the Minnesota River Conference leaders, on Friday, Feb. 7, in Jordan.

Coming back from the locker room down 40-24, the Tigers came out firing.

Tiger senior Noah Schumacher  played a scrappy game on both sides of the court and mounted 17 points and 8 rebounds.

Fellow Tiger Mychal Fisel landed a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Josh Gregory took down 12 points.

The Tigers fought back to within 3 points of the Hubmen (59-56) but remained just shy of taking the lead.

Despite outscoring Jordan 39-33 in the second half, Belle Plaine fell 73-63.

Feb. 10: 79-75 Loss to New Ulm

In what became the fourth game in which the Tigers lost by 4 points or less, Belle Plaine’s  non-conference matchup against the New Ulm Eagles turned out to be a shootout until the end.

Giving the Tigers their biggest hurdle was New Ulm’s Reece Melby, who knocked down 27 points. Not far behind for the Eagles was Charlie Osbourne with 19 points.

Meanwhile, the Tigers had nine players connect with the scoreboard; Cade Morrison led  the charge with 18 points.

Trailing by two after the first half, the Tigers battled but couldn’t close the gap and took another close loss, 79-75.
