After a strong start in the form of a Luke Luskey touchdown, the Belle Plaine Tigers fought a tough fight but came up short against Fairmont last Friday, Oct. 4.
Fairmont fired back in the second quarter with a touchdown of their own, and then another to bring the score to 14-6.
Luskey hit his stride a second time for a 47-yard rushing touchdown. He followed that up with a successful conversion to tie things up.
Fairmont shot back with a 43-yard rushing touchdown of their own and opted for the extra point.
Luskey notched his third touchdown and second conversion to give the Tigers the 22-21 edge heading into the second half.
The third quarter saw the teams locking horns, but neither team scored.
The fourth quarter, however, belonged entirely to the Fairmont Cardinals, who scored three unanswered touchdowns to close the contest out at 41-22, handing the Tigers their fourth loss of the season.
The loss came with laudable moves for the Tigers, including 157 rushing yards out of Luskey and 110 yards out of Cole Brown.
Colton Kerkow took home an interception, and Dylan Kahle had a 31-yard reception.
