After entering the sub-section 2AA playoffs as the 11th seed, the Tigers upset the sixth-seeded Maple River Eagles on their home diamond 9-1, in a late game rally to seal the deal. From the mound, senior Jessica Brueggermeier kept the Eagles on their heels, which allowed infielders to make key defensive plays.
The Tigers advanced to the double-elimination bracket and were pitted up against Tri-City United Thursday. The Tigers fell 0-7 and are slated to continue their state bid at Caswell Park in Mankato at noon Saturday, May 25.
The Tigers took to the road for an underdog matchup against the Medford Tigers. Belle Plaine took an early lead and kept it with a single run in the first inning.
After taking a 6-0 lead, Belle Plaine staved off Medford for the 9-5 win.
The Tigers are set to play Le Sueur-Henderson at LS-H highschool Tuesday, May 28 at 5 p.m.
