Belle Plaine may be quiet for the 4th of July, but if you want to take in some fireworks or enjoy a fun day out with the family, there are many activities going on throughout the area to celebrate Independence Day.
ELYSIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY
Elysian rolls out the red, white and blue for an almost week-long Independence Day celebration. Enjoy the grand parade, boat parade, music by the Johnny Holm Band and Smokescreen, turtle races, kids’ activities, a fishing contest, pedal pull, bingo, arm wrestling, bean bag tournament, flea market, pancake breakfast, Miss Elysian and Princess of the Lakes pageants, medallion hunt, fireworks, and more.

4th OF JULY in DELANO

CHASKA FIREWORKS SHOW
Chaska is proud to have one of the best fireworks shows in the southwest metro area. There’s also a fireworks tent in the parking lot for last minute purchases of sparklers and other items for the kids to enjoy.

MANKATO’S RED HOT & BOOM
Mankato’s 4th of July celebration returns with live music and the area’s largest fireworks display. This year’s free entertainment will include Americana troubadour Erik Koskinen, along with Mankato music legends City Mouse. Music kicks off at 7 p.m., with the riverside fireworks display going off promptly at 10 p.m.

OLD-FASHIONED JULY 4 in ST. PETER
The Old-Fashioned Parade and Picnic in the Park quickens the pulse of the community with excitement of live music, variety of food vendors, children’s activities, a hot dog eating contest, Freedom Fun Run, and spectacular fireworks display. The event blends old traditions with new attractions and promises to provide entertainment for all ages.

ANNUAL BOAT PARADE on PRIOR LAKE
The Prior Lake Association will host its annual boat parade, beginning at Charlie’s on Prior on Upper Prior Lake, followed by a fireworks display on Lower Prior Lake usually after 10 p.m., providing excellent views from almost anywhere north or west of Lakefront Park.

PRIOR LAKE’S ROCK & ROCKETS
The Rock and Rockets celebration is a free all-ages event featuring food trucks, live outdoor music and fireworks. Sunshine Committee and G.B. Leighton will perform before the night sky lights up with a musically-choreographed fireworks show. Don’t miss appearances by the Minnesota Vikings cheerleaders and the indoor celebrations in the game area.

LAKE MINNETONKA 4TH OF JULY
The Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber of Commerce produces and hosts the only public 4th of July fireworks event on Lake Minnetonka. The celebration begins early in the morning with the Firecracker Run and goes until well past dark with a bang on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. New this year will be a Ferris Wheel spinning all day long for the most spectacular views of the lake and fireworks.

4TH OF JULY at TURNER HALL PARK in NEW ULM
Enjoy a free July 4th holiday celebration in Turner Hall Park, with burgers and brats, music and games, face painting, and a musical lineup that includes Dain’s Dutchmen, Schell’s Hobo Band, the Wendinger Band, and Alpensterne. New this year’s is a kids’ tent with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, storytime, face painting, and more.

FIREWORKS over LAKE WACONIA
