A 61-year-old resident of Winsted Township in McLeod County was wounded during the morning of Sunday, November 3, when he was struck from a shotgun while duck hunting in Hollwoood Township in Carver County.
According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, their office received a 9-1-1 call at 7:54 a.m. after David Hoese was hit in the face and chest by BBs/shot fired from a shotgun. A shotgun had discharged after having been set down by Hoese's partner, who was securing his boat into position behind Hoese's boat in the weeds approximately 10-15 feet away.
Carver County Sheriff’s Office and Ridgeview Medical Center ambulance responded to the scene. Hoese was taken by Ridgeview paramedics via ambulance to Hennepin Health Care with non-life-treating injuries.
The Carver County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation in this case.
"Sheriff Kamerud would like to remind people of the importance of practicing firearm safety," the release stated.
