A motorcyclist was ‘seriously’ injured following a collision with an SUV on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in southeast Belle Plaine. Responders were dispatched at around 4:15 p.m., according to Belle Plaine Police.
The motorcyclist, identified by Belle Plaine Police as Ryan Maciej, 41, of Belle Plaine, was reportedly traveling southbound on Laredo Avenue near Hickory Park when a northbound Oldsmobile Bravada turned in front of him.
The driver of the Bravada, a 16-year-old male, reportedly did not see Maciej and attempted to turn onto East Orchard Street when the collision occurred.
A Ridgview ambulance transported Maciej to St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee following the accident. A GoFundMe page set up for Maciej and his family states that he suffered multiple injuries, including a crushed pelvis, a shattered elbow and a shattered knee.
Police do not suspect anything criminal took place and believe the crash was an accident. The teen was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
