Andy F. Meger, lifelong resident of Belle Plaine, passed away January 9, 2020 at The Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. at Wednesday January 15 at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. A parish rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 14 at 3:45 p.m. at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church.  Family and friends may greet Andy’s family from 4–7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour before the funeral liturgy at the church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W of Belle Plaine.
Andrew Francis Meger was born June 9, 1928 the son of John D. and Veronica (Schippret) Meger. Andy attended country school in Derrynane Township rural Le Sueur County and later attended high school in New Prague. After high school he joined his father to help on the family farm.  Andy enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and served for two years.
He was united in marriage to Margaret McPartlan August 8, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Belle Plaine. Together the couple raised 10 children.
After being honorably discharged from the Army he worked at the Farmer’s Coop in Belle Plaine for 10 years.
He attended vocational school in Minneapolis where he studied to become an electrician, earning his journeyman’s license. Andy began employment as an electrician at Midland Glass, which became Anchor Glass, where he worked for 30 years.
He retired in 1993, but continued to do electrical work for various people, but most notably at Emma Krumbees restaurant and the AmericInn Hotel.
Andy was a member of the American Legion and a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church.
His life interests include fishing, deer hunting, vacationing up north with his family and hunting for that elusive “Morel Mushroom.”
Andy is survived by his 10 children, Sheila Busch of Le Sueur, Ken Meger (Tammy Turner) of New Prague, Dan (Ann) Meger of Lincolnton, NC., Wayne Meger of Chaska, Shirley Meger of Halfway, OR, Don (Pam) Meger of Belle Plaine, Glen (Cheryl) Meger of Owatonna, Tom Meger of Belle Plaine, Sharon (Dave) Ernst of Shakopee, and Shelly (Adam) Juaire of Land O Lakes, FL; 29 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leonard of Faribault.
Andy is preceded in death by his brothers, John, Sylvester, Raymond, Joseph, and Ambrose; and sisters, Marcella, Rosella, Veronica, and Mary Ann.
